Most of what we get called for is a 30 to 90 minute job for a licensed crew. Outlets, switches, fixtures, fans, GFCI replacement, dedicated circuits. If we're already at your house for a remodel or a plumbing call, the electrical add-on is usually the same visit.
Light fixtures, ceiling fans, and recessed lighting
We install pendant lights, chandeliers, sconces, ceiling fans, and can/recessed lighting. The most common call is a homeowner who buys a fixture they like, finds out the existing box is undersized for it, and needs someone who can swap the box, support the weight properly, and ground the new fixture to current code. We do that work all the time. Heavy-fan installs get an old-work fan-rated box, not a hope-and-pray hanger.
Outlets, switches, GFCI and AFCI upgrades
Older Glen Ellyn homes (anything pre-1985) often have ungrounded outlets with two-prong receptacles. Modern code requires GFCI protection in kitchens, bathrooms, laundry, garages, and outdoor outlets, and AFCI on most living-space circuits. We replace failed receptacles, install GFCI/AFCI where it's missing, and swap out the loose, blackened, or singed outlets that show up in remodels. If a receptacle is warm to the touch, stop using it and call us. That's a loose connection waiting to become a fire.
Dedicated circuits for appliances
New induction range, EV charger, central humidifier, beverage fridge in the basement bar. Every one of those needs its own circuit. We run new 20-amp and 30-amp circuits from the panel, properly sized for the load, with the breaker matched to the wire gauge (which a lot of DIY work gets wrong). EV chargers in particular need a 40 or 50-amp 240V circuit and a proper load calc on the panel so you don't end up tripping the main every time the dryer and EV run together.
Troubleshooting and general repair
Half of a breaker that doesn't make sense. A light switch that buzzes. Flickering recessed cans. A breaker that trips every time the microwave and toaster run together. These are the calls where you want someone who has been in panels for 25 years, not someone running a checklist. We trace it, fix the underlying problem, and explain what we found.
