Local plumber in Glen Ellyn, IL

When something is leaking, dripping, gurgling, or refusing to drain at your house in Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, or anywhere across DuPage County, this is the page. JR Plumbing Heating & Air is the local plumber Frank built after 25+ years on residential systems. We handle full-service work including fixtures, water heaters, sump pumps, repiping, and RPZ testing across the whole home.

Most plumbing calls in Glen Ellyn fall into three categories. A fixture that's leaking. A water heater that's tired. A sump pump that picked the worst possible storm to fail. We fix all three the same day in most cases, and we'll tell you exactly what the job involves before anyone touches a wrench.

Residential plumbing we do every week

Frank and the crew run service trucks stocked for the calls we get most often: faucets, garbage disposals, toilets, dishwashers, washing machine valves, hose bibs, and the connections between them. We install Moen, Delta, and Kohler fixtures, replace Insinkerator and Waste King disposals, and handle Toto and American Standard toilet rebuilds without ordering parts and coming back next week.

Water heater installation and repair

Most homes in Glen Ellyn and Wheaton run 40 to 50 gallon Bradford White, A.O. Smith, or Rheem tank heaters. We install all three brands and stock the common parts including thermocouples, gas valves, anode rods, and T&P relief valves. If your hot water is running out faster than it used to, the dip tube has probably failed and the bottom of the tank is sediment-clogged. If the tank itself is leaking, it's done. We'll walk you through a tankless conversion (Rinnai, Navien) or a same-size tank replacement and pull the Village of Glen Ellyn permit ourselves.

Sump pumps, ejector pumps, and battery backup

If your sump pump fails during a big storm, the next call is to a flood remediation company. We don't want you to have to make that call. We install Zoeller, Liberty, and Hydromatic primary pumps, plus battery backup systems for the homes around Lake Ellyn and Stacy's Corners that sit low and take on water every spring. If you've been in your current house five or more years and never replaced the pump, schedule a check before the next storm. Pumps fail in heavy use, never in the off-season.

RPZ and backflow prevention testing

The Village of Glen Ellyn and most surrounding municipalities require annual RPZ testing on irrigation systems and certain boiler setups. We're a certified backflow tester and we file the paperwork with the village ourselves. You don't have to chase the test report or worry about a letter from public works.

Repiping older Glen Ellyn homes

A lot of pre-1970 homes in Glen Ellyn still have galvanized supply lines that are well past their service life. Low pressure upstairs, brown water after the line sits, pinhole leaks at threaded joints. We repipe with copper or PEX and stage the work so you're without water for hours, not days. If you've already had two leaks this year, repipe is going to be cheaper than the next five repairs plus the drywall.

Plumbing — Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a plumber cost in Glen Ellyn, IL?
Costs vary by job. A simple service call to fix a leaking fixture is a much smaller bill than a water heater swap or a full repipe. We give every customer the number in writing before any work starts so there are no surprises. Call us with the specifics and we will quote it.
Do you offer emergency plumbing service?
Yes. Burst pipes, sewer backups, no-water situations, and sump pump failures in active storms are our top priority. Calls before noon get same-day service in most cases. Call 630-545-2619 and tell us what is happening.
Do you replace water heaters the same day?
Most standard 40 and 50 gallon tank replacements (Bradford White, A.O. Smith, Rheem) we can complete same-day if we get the call by mid-morning. Tankless conversions and atypical venting setups usually need a scheduled visit because of permit timing.
Do I need a sump pump battery backup?
If your finished basement is below grade and you live anywhere near Lake Ellyn, Churchill Park, or the lower streets in Wheaton, yes. Power outages and major storms happen at the same time. A primary pump without a backup is one bad night away from a flooded basement.
Do you handle Village of Glen Ellyn plumbing permits?
Yes. For water heater replacements, repipes, fixture relocations in remodels, and backflow installation, we pull the permit and schedule the inspection. You do not need to deal with village hall.

Twice now JR Plumbing has got me out of a jamb in emergency situations. I had a collapsed sewer line under my basement floor and they were able to identify the problem and repair it quickly (and patch over the foundation floor). Would recommend as they are trustworthy and reasonably priced.

I broke my toilet’s compression valve and had to turn off the water to the entire house. I called JR Plumbing and they were so kind to fit me into their busy schedule the same day. Frank and his team are exactly the kind of folks you want showing up.

The owner, Frank and his colleague, Alex came out to install a sink, garbage disposal, and vent hood. Also, they replaced a leaky outdoor spigot and a leaky faucet. They are very easy to work with. I highly recommend them for their great work and fair pricing.
